Laugh Trips, Memory Lane Expressways, and Passing Out

You may have noticed by now that I have been posting mostly about beer and movies. This is on the former which can either be a good or a disastrous topic. I hope its the former.

This night belonged to Budoy who was the birthday celebrant. Well, I was on a business trip giving me another opportune time to bond and hangout with my long time friends. The roster for the night includes Budoy (In the striped shirt and going clockwise), Patrick, Me, the guy who shall be mentioned but will not be named, KingJoy, Ninoy, Glenn (Budoy's former boss), Glenn (Yaggz's formerFriend (???) and Ginebra Fan), and Che.

The main attraction: two earlobes of Alfonso I, (the picture shows a different alfonso but believe me the effect is the same) featuring a smorgasbord of pulutan to boot. KingJoy brought a king-sized Yellow Cab pizza, Budoy fried some chicken ass, some tilapia were asalized from the nearby bbq stand, I boiled bulalo for five hours specifically for drunkards who will pass out (in this specific gimmick, it turned out to be me). What else? Well we had the usual pulutan, mani for Ninoy and hilaw na mangga with bagoong for Che.

The night started out well. What is great about this group in comparison with my other tropa is that we do not have to go about the usual "saen ka na? pira na ang aki mo? may harong ka na? gurano ang sweldo mo?" spiels. We get down and dirty as soon as the cork pops or in this case, an earlobe of brandy without any stopper (beat that Grandamama!)

It never ceases to amaze me how much laughter we can generate with simple and witless jokes anchored on mere association. Every person who had a same quality with another guy has to have a picture taken. (e.g. Mayon Boys, IrigeƱos, Engineers, Ateneans, Upeans) You don't have to go into the verge of toilet humor to roll out laughing but the simple witty banter and exchanges is enough to put gas into your stomach. Since it was a Wednesday night, the night ended early for some. (King, I am calling you out, I know in your bed that night you're still telling yourself, I should be in the top three!) Some others retired due to work commitments in the morning. After 3 pm, I went blackout and as expected, yet again i cannot remember a single thing.

As they were recalling to me the details of the previous night, I could not help but think if it was a fabrication but one thing is for sure the last man standing was that guy who shall be mentioned but will not be named. Che said that the guy who shall be mentioned but will not be named pondered in the dark for 30 minutes as he waited for the sunrise.

So there, I finally mentioned him in a night to be forever remembered just like any night that is full of laugh trips, memory lane expressways, and passing out.

Forthcoming Naga Hangouts

One of the perks of having this line of work is being in the know of certain developments in the city, particularly, the construction of new sites.

That old portion where we used to hang-out, the place that started turning Magsaysay into a Libis of sorts is gone. It is a sad day when a good hangout such as Chili-Peppers will be reduced to rubbles after hints of mismanagement, underdevelopment and several other factors. Well as they say, with gimmick places, you better offer a new trick or an keep an old hat to keep your customers glued. Well, the place turned stale, for God's sake they don't even have chili sauce to spice up the sisig. The prices went up, from an unlimited beer from 9-12 for only a hundred bucks, to almost 150 per bucket.

While the neighboring sites obviously developed (Avenue Plaza, Red Platter), it suddenly lost its aura. Maybe the change is just for the better.

So in with the perks that I am talking about. I've been told that that site is now being turned into Yellow Cab and Starbucks. I must admit I was skeptical about a Starbucks flourishing in Naga City. But by the looks of it, it may just thrive. Sad thing is it might also kill another Naga hangout keeper - Beanbag and Molino. Oh well, that's how competition works.

I am sure sosyalistas will flock like birds gasping for a fresh breath of air to this coffee shop to affirm their social status. And those trying hard kinds like me will just bring a hundred bucks (hope it suffices), a beat up NEO laptop and play fantasy nba all night long. If you haven't come home to Naga for like a year or so, you will suddenly be amazed at the many facelifts in the city. It's like Vicky Belo masterpiece of an Anita Linda type of woman. And I'm saying that in a very bad way.

And I haven't announced that SM will officially and finally open on May 1st? I guess I haven't, so there.

I dreamt of Heart Evangelista

Much ashamed to admit it, but yes, I really dreamt of Heart Evagelista. Just last night.
The details were blurry as any dream is but I can remember us smacking, hugging, and being lovers. I know some would say that it is a sign of interest for someone but she is not my type. Yet, it was a good dream I suppose. As I remembered it all too clearly just like when I dreamt about Vina Morales (in her prime) when I was a teenage boy.
This is becoming all to embarrasing now, devoting almost 100 words on this subject, so I guess that's it. It was just a weird dream after all.
And yes, I forced myself back to sleep, hoping that the dream would have a part II ala telenovela Luna Mystika.
